Thank you so much to everyone that responded to the 2022 FGF Community Survey! We are still going through the comments and plan to incorporate many, if not all of your suggestions into FGF in the year ahead. (Please be patient as we try to make all of these integrations, but know that we will be working on it tirelessly behind the scenes!). We are so happy to have your input on the ways we can support you in destashing, decluttering, making mindset shifts, and living your best creative life!
And while we can’t respond to all of your questions and ideas yet, we wanted to take this opportunity to respond to the ones that we already do have answers for! Many of these issues are addressed in our FAQs as well, and we will be updating them again soon to reflect any additional information provided here.
Let’s do this!
Q: How Can I Put Products on Sale?
A: Marking down the price of fabric is easy — once you know where to look for it. It’s a little tricky to find, but we are happy to guide you through the process!
- Go into your seller dashboard and click on Listings
- Select the item or items that you want to edit
- Click Bulk Edit (top right)
- Select Sale
- From the drop down menu select “Set to regular price decreased by (fixed amt or %)”
- Now enter the amount you want to discount your item — for example, 20%
- Click UPDATE
Q: I’m Unable to Post Photos. Help!
A: If you’re having trouble adding photos to your listing, it is probably because your images are too large for our site. Photos must not be larger than 1MB. Our site will optimize most photos to be smaller than 1MB — however, if your files are extremely large they might still be too big. If your photos are too large and you need to make them smaller, you can use this site which will shrink your photos for free: https://tinypng.com. Smaller images save room on storage so that there is enough space for everyone’s photos.
Q: Can FGF Have Mystery Sale Section/Notions/WIPs/Books?
A: At this time, we’ve decided to focus only on designer fabrics. Here’s why: we want FeelGood Fibers to provide you with the experience of shopping at an online quilt shop — with secondhand fabrics. Maybe at some time in the future we will expand to include secondhand notions and books; however, our focus for now is on secondhand designer brand fabrics.
Q: Is There a Way to See Individual Seller’s Stuff Grouped Together?
A: Yes! Each seller has their own “shop”. You can see everything that a particular seller is destashing by clicking on their shop name (located just below the price of the fabric).
Q: Why Is Your Fabric More Expensive Than Other Places?
A: There are a few reasons fabric on FGF might seem more expensive. First, the cost of shipping is built into the price of all fabric listed on the site. So, while fabric might seem less expensive on Etsy or Ebay, once the cost of shipping is added in, it is likely that the price on FeelGood Fibers is on par, if not lower.
Second, sellers are free to price their fabrics however they would like. If a fabric is priced too high, it is unlikely to sell. If a fabric is priced reasonably it will sell quickly.
Third, there are many designer fabrics that are highly collectible — especially fabrics that are out of print. Sellers can price these fabrics higher because the demand will support higher prices.
Hope this helps!
Q: Can You Drive More Traffic to My Fabrics Through Instagram and Facebook?
A: We are happy to support your destash in any way that we can. If you’d like to partner with us to promote your destash on social; plan a particular day for products to drop; coordinate IG stories, posts, or anything else you can think of, get in touch! As you’ve probably seen with prior destashers, we are happy to do that for you. Just send us an email hello@feelgoodfibers.com!
Q: Can You Provide More Help With Photography
A: We are working on creating additional resources to help you out! In the meantime check out 7 Tips for Taking Fabric Photos That Sell, Photography Tips for Sellers and this video on editing fabric photos.
Thank you so much to everyone that took the time to answer our survey. We are so appreciative to hear your feedback. We hope that this post helps answer some of your questions, and we can’t wait to create more resources to help you to navigate the destash process going forward!
Sending love and good vibes,
Kim & Tom
