A Love Letter to the Community

Dear FeelGood Fibers Community,

You’ve often heard us say that you are awesome. But the reason that we say it, is because you truly are. And so on this day, 2/2/22, we want to share with you a little about our hopes for this tiny little business of ours; how we imagine it growing in the future; and how important you are to that vision.

Two years ago, we launched with the dream of creating a central marketplace for quilters to buy and sell fabric from one another’s stashes. We wanted it to be accessible to all, easy to use (we continue to make improvements based on your feedback and new technology), and fun for everyone.

While launching just weeks before a pandemic had its challenges, it also forced us to make changes, be flexible, and take stock of what was important in life. And for us, building a community of like-minded people that want to live, shop, and create with intention felt like we were doing exactly what we should be doing.

We recognized some important pillars to which we are committed: First, we are dedicated to spreading meaningful and manageable tips for sewing more sustainably. Second, we believe whole-heartedly that our sewing environment has an impact on our creativity (and well-being). Third, we recognize the importance of being intentional about our purchasing decisions and the projects we choose to make. And we are committed to sharing all of this with love and positivity.

While we are extremely proud of how far we have come over these past two years, we of course, have lots of dreams for what FeelGood Fibers could become in the future. And of course we think about how we can balance those ambitions with our desire to stay true to our mission. For example, we get asked all the time about expanding FeelGood Fibers internationally.  But how do we do this, while keeping our footprint small and shipping costs for our sellers manageable?  We also have ideas about expanding into other fibers, like yarn or paper.  But then, how do we make sure we are able to maintain our focus on the sewing community we love so much?

Please just know, that while things might not always run perfectly (we are first to admit that there will always be hiccups and mistakes!), we are always acting with the intention to serve the community to the best of our ability. We will always act with love and the goal of giving back to the world more than we take from it.

We are forever grateful that you are here. We appreciate each and every one of you for destashing, shopping, decluttering, reading, and engaging with us. And we believe in our hearts that You Are Awesome!

We can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

Sending love and good vibes,

xo Kim & Tom
